This program is a great fit for students with a passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Students are prepared through hands-on experiences and instruction to work in a wide variety of careers within veterinary medicine, including kennel worker, veterinary assistant, veterinary technician, and veterinarian. Through this program, students are prepared to be successful in their post-secondary pursuits as well as entering directly into the workforce

Course Description and Career Skills 

This program prepares individuals to work under the supervision of veterinarians, laboratory animal specialists, and zoological professionals, providing comprehensive patient care, clinical procedure assistance, and effective communication with animal owners. It includes instruction in animal nursing care, health and nutrition, handling, clinical pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, dental prophylaxis, surgical assisting, and laboratory procedures, as well as office administration, patient and owner management, and adherence to professional standards and regulations. Students gain hands-on experience in both clinical and administrative aspects of animal care, equipping them with the skills needed for careers in veterinary and zoological settings.
