Health Career Pathways, preparing students to thrive as essential members of the growing healthcare industry.

Students who are interested in helping others, working in a team environment and being a part of a field with a lot of opportunities for growth are encouraged to enroll in Health Career Pathways. In this program, students will acquire the skills to be valuable member of any healthcare team. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more workers are hired in the healthcare industry than in any other industry, and the trend is expected to continue.

Course Description and Career Skills

This healthcare instructional program prepares students to develop foundational knowledge and skills in safety, professionalism, communication, infection control, emergency care, human development, nutrition, basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and patient care. Students learn to follow OSHA standards, use proper body mechanics, assist clients with mobility and daily activities, provide personal care, monitor vital signs, perform range of motion exercises, and support nutrition and hydration needs. The program also covers ethical and legal responsibilities, teamwork, stress management, documentation, abuse recognition, infection prevention, CPR and first aid, hospice and postmortem care, and understanding disease processes across all body systems, while emphasizing culturally competent care and effective communication within healthcare settings.
